24 Hours At Murrells Inlet

Last week, Mr. A & I traveled up the coast to visit some friends for a night. From the moment we arrived at their cottage/villa/any other wonderful word that describes a home with so many windows it makes you feel lighter, time slowed to a crawl. On a whim we decided to head to the inlet for some afternoon fishing. Now, I only had about two minutes of fishing experience from my childhood summer camp days because I was afraid of the bait, but I was game to try again!

Turns out this previously shrieking-at-the-live-bait girl knows how to catch the most fish of the day! Under the tutelage of our friends, Mr. A & I nabbed the most bites. In between waiting to feel the smallest tease of a tug on the fishing line, we let the afternoon pass us by. We gathered & laughed, we sat & reflected, we looked out over the water & exhaled. The hard oyster shells under our feet no match for our softened spirits.

With a lil' bit of pina coladas in our rum, we spent hours chatting as we restaurant hopped down the pier (with touristy intended-for-children pirate hats on our heads because we have no shame). There was time for every conversation & every last hushpuppy. Looking back, we can't believe we were only there for 24 hours. Who knew a whirlwind could go so slowly? Only in the South, I suppose.

One more thing...have a great day on purpose!
