...who understands:
SportsNation, consuming incredible amounts of chicken wings*, Nintendo games, mud, vintage cars
...and doesn't "get":
pink, gossip, marathon shopping days, cattiness, fashion, The Bachelor
Don't get me wrong, I happily get together for coffee, savor luscious
But I've also been found in sports jerseys telling the ref how I really feel & waiting hours in line for a sneak peak showing of Star Trek.
So, needless to say, when I find other women who are cut from the same awesome cloth, I'm happy as a clam! I'm all about casting Comedic Actresses in my life story, sparing the drama.
Bethany is one such lady. We met in calculus class almost a decade ago [insert gaping open mouth as that dawns on me] & we've had a girly case of the "like likes" for each other ever since. I'm convinced that her heart weighs more than she does.
(I'm thinking of getting this for us. You should get one for you & your bestie too!)
Announcement: Today is Beth's birthday!!
Last year, I took her (& her fabulous mama) to a concert by the stupendous Tyrone Wells. She's attending another one for her birthday this year! (I sense a tradition brewing if Tyrone keeps up his rad touring style.) I can't be there so I'm dedicating this jam to her...
Call one of your girlfriends today. Write a card, look through old pictures, relish an inside joke.
Cherish the girlfriend bubble!
One last thing..have a great day/birthday/Easter on purpose!
*Alex told me that he held his breath on our first date as the waiter asked for my order fearing I may be a non-eater. Then I proposed that we get the appetizer sample just to start with. I likewise held my breath when he asked Alex how he wanted his steak cooked. Medium rare. Then, we both secretly thought "Phew! OK, I can keep this one around." I know realize this was a random blurb that totally takes away from the theme of this post. Oh well! Crap happens, eat chocolate (with a friend)! Better yet! Eat the ears off a chocolate bunny today.

I so love you Heather, though thousands of miles away you are the closest person to my heart! This made me cry...in a totally tomboy sort of way ;-) XOXO
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Beth!
ReplyDeleteHow funny re: your first date. I have a similar thing around pants length on guys - if I'd been able to see the top of lovely husband C's shoes we wouldn't be married today...
Love your new blog header! Hope you had a fabulous weekend and wonderful week ahead!
